So what do you do if you find you have termites, in your house or on your property? Do you attempt to treat the problem yourself, or do you hire one of those companies providing pest control services? Some people have a strong do-it-yourself spirit and hate the idea of paying someone else to do something they think they can do themselves. Others would rather not take any chances.
Home termite treatments can be effective on a small scale. If you’re dealing with termites in your storage shed or in the old wood swing in the back, then purchasing termite poison from the store could be your best bet. Such poisons aren’t very cheap, though. If you end up having to buy a great deal of it, you could end up paying as much as a professional service. Another option is to make your own termite bait trap. Bait traps work well, but they have to be correctly placed. If you put them out but the termites do not find them, then they are useless.
If you suspect you have termites in your home, then it’s time to call in the big guns. The fact is, your house is too precious to risk, and termites are just too dangerous. They are not easy to spot, and they can be hard to wipe out. If you do it yourself, you might succeed, but you might fail too, and end up repeating your treatments repeatedly, without success. It could cost as much or more as a termite control service, without working as well. The professionals not only have training, they have access to chemicals and technology that you do not. Furthermore, if you purchase a termite bond or a treatment that comes with a guarantee, then they will come back and retreat free as many times as necessary.
