Hooray it’s come….

Well, there was a knock on the door at 8 this morning and me still in dressing gown, with hair sticking out like a punk rocker, busy catching up on Goy. It could only be a delivery I think, so, even at the risk of giving the poor delivery driver a heart attack on the doorstep, I opened the door to receive a big black oblong box with T’s name on it. Aww! I think, disappointed that it wasn’t the plants I have on order. Must be another bit for the bl*^~y bike he is building, which by the way is taking up all the room in the double garage, forcing me to leave my car outside and having to spend ages freezing my fingers off defrosting it. Anyway it wasn’t long before T surfaced and he said he hadn’t ordered anything. Then it dawned on me what it was. Read more…

Garden Destinations: Landschaftpark Duisburg-Nord

Post Industrial Landscapes arent something I generally give much consideration to, but seeing this project in Germany, I am inspired to see these types of sights, and their potential for re-development, in a new light. Designers from Latz+Partners have transformed a 200+ acre site north of Duisberg Germany, which was once an ironworks plant, into gardens, parks, public space, and recreational areas in an experiment to celebrate the industrial past and the hard work that once took place at the this site.

The site now houses trails that follow the former railroad tracks, climbing walls that were once imposing industial walls and buildings, stacks that have been cleaned and transformed into scuba diving practice facilities, whimsical slides that recall large pipes that once connected the site, and even formal gardens.  I

Super Cute Animal Lamps by Shira Keret Will Brighten Up Your Bedroom

We all know that the animal kingdom is an endless source of inspiration for designers and creative minds. Young Israeli designer Shira Keret was touched by the cuteness of our favorite animals too and created a series of super cute animal lamps. She works together with Four’nFive that is a group of talented young designers based in Tel Aviv.

Shira Kerets animal creations are made of Tyvek that is a non-woven white material. This material is very strong, it is difficult to tear but can easily be cut with scissors or a knife therefore is a great tool for constructing various home deco objects too. Water vapor can pass through Tyvek (highly breathable) but not liquid water, so the material lends itself to a variety of applications such as car covers or envelopes. T

FDA: Syntec dietary supplements seized by U.S. Marshals

Vitamins & Supplements FDA: Syntec dietary supplements seized by U.S. Marshals Dec 2, 2011 4:45 PM

The Food and Drug Administration called on U.S. Marshals to seize dietary supplements by a Wisconsin maker for allegedly false claims made about their safety and effectiveness in treating diseases, the FDA announced yesterday.

The products manufactured at the Hillsboro, Wis., facility of Syntec Inc. are not FDA-approved, the agency said in a press release. It said that a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin alleges that several of Syntec Inc.’s products are unapproved new drugs that may not be introduced into interstate commerce, and are in violation of federal law.

Garden Designers Round Table: Design Heroes

Choosing a design hero is not something that comes easy to me , primarily because I can find something I love in most gardens and if someone has even a little bit of skill I can usually learn something from them (making them at least a little bit of a hero in my eyes). Nonetheless, there are a few that I turn to more often for inspiration even though I am fickle about professing my undying love. Key for me is that they are all still alive. I appreciate following a career as it unfolds and seeing how designs evolve in the context of modern day. Thats not to say I dont love some historical figures, but I have to keep my heroes in the realm of might actually have a conversation with this person someday. Read more…

Sculpture Under Glass is a Marvel to Behold

A lot of people are under the impression that a husband and wife shouldn’t work together due to all the problems that could arise. After seeing this new collection from Larry and Nancy Buechley though we are starting to think differently. We love seeing new and interesting tables almost as much as we love seeing new and interesting chairs and lately we have been seeing a lot more tables in percentage to the amount of tears that we see. Today we’re going to look at the latest one this is called Sculpture Under Glass.

The title of this collection does a very good job of describing exactly what is available here. There is a wooden sculpture of sorts that is in place under a plate of glass that will be used as the table. It
